Isha Outreach
Large scale human outreach projects for rural upliftment, quality education for the underprivileged, environmental stewardship and holistic health have impacted the lives of millions of people around the world, earning Isha Foundation a special consultative status with the United Nations.
Isha Outreach, Isha’s social outreach initiative, includes several path-breaking environmental, educational, health and community revitalization efforts. Working primarily in South India, Isha Outreach has become an example of the transformation that human intention and effort can bring about.
The programs are meticulously planned and manned mostly by over 2 million volunteers, offering their time and effort for their fellow human beings’ benefit. Raising funds in the USA, Sadhguru explained why he works primarily in India, and specifically in Tamil Nadu, “Working in a place where you are not effective is no use. We are not doing this for our satisfaction. We are doing this because it needs to be done, a difference can be made in someone’s life. With minimum input we can produce maximum impact - that’s why India, that’s why Tamil Nadu. In Tamil Nadu, if you give me $10, I will produce $20 worth of work because there are dedicated people all over the place. It has taken sixteen to eighteen years to produce these people. In every district in Tamil Nadu, dedicated volunteers work in and with the villages to make the program effective. With minimum input we can produce maximum impact.
